Our CSV team has grown with the addition of Selene Madureira to the team, as our new Junior CSV Engineer! 😊
Selene was born in Chaves, a northern city of Portugal, and she then moved to Lisbon to continue her studies.
Holding a Master’s Degree in Biotechnology from Instituto Superior Técnico, and a Bachelor at Molecular Biology and Genetics from Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, Selene continued her academic journey by always aiming for a hands-on experience in the technological and pharmaceutical industries, which allowed her to have “a well-rounded perspective and a solid foundation for my professional growth”.
Selene chose Stepscience “because of its strong focus on the pharmaceutical and biotechnological industries, its commitment to a mission that resonates with my own values, and its international presence. Additionally, I am particularly drawn to its core values, such as integrity and excellence, which align with my own professional principles”. For Selene, it’s fundamental for a company to have flexibility, transparency, integrity and respect – at Stepscience, she finds them all.
Her first impression was of “a team of curious and driven individuals from diverse backgrounds, bringing a wealth of experience and a genuine willingness to teach and support young talents” – Selene wishes to deepen her understanding of pharmaceutical processes, learning more and developing professionally within the sector, wishing to build a strong foundation for her knowledge.
Selene has high ambitions as for the future of the Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences industries, “I see the future as leaning strongly toward biopharmaceuticals and the development of new therapies, including those involving medical cannabis and other medically promising substances such as Psilocybin, Mescaline, LSD, DMT and Ketamine. These innovations offer great potential, but they also bring challenges, particularly in terms of regulatory frameworks and the need for broader social education to support their integration into healthcare.”
Outside of workhours, Selene will most likely be exploring trails, diving or relaxing at the beach – “I have a deep connection with nature, whenever I get the chance, I enjoy trekking through the woods and scuba diving (…) anything that sparks curiosity and brings a sense of adventure”. On the other hand, when not in the mood for adventure, Selene chooses to be looking through museums enjoying all the art or simply cooking.
