Meet João,
João Freira was born in Redondo, near Évora. He holds a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering completed at FCT NOVA. Before joining Stepscience team he worked as Industrial Maintenance Engineer, where he “acquired a lot of knowledge and experience in the field of industrial production”. Prior to that he worked as a telemarketing salesperson and as production line assistant in two different companies.
João already knew Stepscience for some time, and he considered “it was on a good path in terms of growth and projects”. So, João decided to join the team “in order to develop myself as much as possible in the scientific professional field” and he is now CQV Junior Engineer.
On his first days in the office, João “was really impressed with the management and size of the company, knowing that it is a very young company”. He was well received, and he is enjoying collaborating with everyone in the team. His expectation is that at Stepscience he can combine professional growth and the level of knowledge obtained. He expects to “acquire experience in the pharmaceutical industry and to develop his professional skills”.
João is “addicted” to music, so he spends most of his free time listening to his favorite bands of alternative rock and searching for new music. He also likes to play guitar, and he is planning to create a bedroom-pop music project. He is a fan of Japonese pop culture in general, starting from manga and anime, to music, fashion and gastronomy. João is fascinated for a culture that is so diverse and so different from Portuguese culture. He is a football fan, and he loves to see his team, SL Benfica play, “although sometimes I suffer a little with it.” He considers himself as “cheerful person, easily relatable”. João greatest qualities are the spirit of resilience and ease of learning.
Since very young João dreamed “of collaborating in the pharmaceutical industry, as it is a fascinating area and aligned with several scientifically and technologically advanced components. Now, I feel like I’m going to start living this dream. I hope to find joy and that it lasts for a long time.”
