Meet Agustin,
Juan Agustin Ortega is a pharmacist from Argentina and he has just joined Stepscience team as CQV Engineer. He has moved to Portugal with his fiancée looking for a better future and a couple of adventures.
Agustin has been working for the past 12 years in several areas of the pharmaceutical industry. In the most recent years, he has been working in the CQV area and he really likes the field. “I did not want a totally different job because of migration, so when I found out about services qualification and process Stepscience, I knew I had to ask for a job here.” As a CQV engineer consultant at the company, he is developing protocols for equipment, facilities, validations for the pharmaceutical industry. Currently, Agustin is “a team member of one cannabis project, making sure a brand-new facility for medicinal CBD production is built according to the up-to-date GMP regulations.”
His first impression of the company is that the all team take seriously the “make a great job environment” motto, and that is what he values the most at work. He feels “lucky to work here.”
During vacations or in his free time, he likes to “travel to new cities and feel in contact with nature; not just to take pictures but to have new experiences. I know I will have a lot of those here in Portugal.”
In the next months Agustin wants to learn how to speak Portuguese fluently, so he can makes new friends here.
Looking at the future, Agustin considers that “in the next decade, the pharma industry will complete the transformation into biotech, with almost 80% automatic processes and a lot of robotic and AI technology taking part. On the other hand, natural products (like CBD) will replace a lot of old chemical drugs at the pharmacy, so the production will have to adapt and mutate.” In both cases, he thinks the CQV field will grow exponentially.
